Cross Border Xpress (CBX), This is About Humanity (TIAH) and the International Community Foundation (ICF) are once again collaborating to raise much-needed funds for the Warm Hearts, Warm Meals campaign, which provides food security for vulnerable families and children at the U.S.-Mexico border. Last year the program collectively raised more than $100,000, benefiting nearly 260,000 people with 282,191 meals.

Food insecurity impacts many nations, including Mexico where more than 10% of the population lacks access to adequate food — in nine of the poorest Mexican states, that number jumps to 35%. Driven by the desire to assist these families, CBX and This is About Humanity have each pledged to match donations up to $20,000 throughout the month of September. Donations can be made at the time of a CBX ticket purchase both online or onsite, as well as through ICF’s website at https://icfdn.org/donate.

All entities involved in the program have applauded its success and potential to make a difference in the region. “We are thrilled to support our neighbors in the Cali Baja Bi-National Mega-Region. CBX has transformed the way people can now travel between Mexico and Southern California, and to show our gratitude to the travelers and residents taking advantage of this corridor, we are eager to support those who need help,” said CBX CEO Jorge Goytortua.

According to Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade, Co-Founder of TIAH, this is an important endeavor that provides much-needed assistance. “This is About Humanity is passionate about serving vulnerable communities in Cali-Baja, and in this case joining forces to alleviate food insecurity in our region alongside Cross Border Xpress and the International Community Foundation.”

Lety Martinez, Director of Philanthropy at ICF also lauded this cooperative effort. “It is a pleasure for ICF to again collaborate with This is About Humanity and CBX to together make a difference in our border region.”

The program will benefit a variety of nonprofit organizations which address food insecurity in their communities. Funds raised help these organizations stock food pantries and food banks, provide food cards, teach nutrition and cooking classes and help staff food operations.
