RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. — mar’sel at Terranea Resort, the luxurious oceanfront resort nestled along the Pacific Ocean, has been awarded Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence for its 10th consecutive year. Wine Spectator, a leading global authority on wine, has honored mar’sel with this second highest level award recognizing mar’sel’s outstanding wine list and impressive wine service.
Pacific oceanfront fine dining experience mar’sel, a Four-Star Forbes Travel Guide winner, showcases 375 wine selections on its carefully curated wine list, and its total bottle inventory is 5,000. Wine Spectator has cited the list’s strengths to be particularly in its breadth and depth of California and French wines. The list presents both New World and Old World varietals from many other outstanding world producers. Choices are made to satisfy the palates of discerning wine lovers who enjoy the sommelier’s pairing suggestions to complement the sophisticated, elegant seasonal American California cuisine with an inventive twist created by Chef Fabio Ugoletti. Wine Spectator judges also considered the meticulous maintenance of the collection, fine glassware used throughout the restaurant and special guest wine programming such as collaborative dinners with local vintners.

This year’s awards program recognized over 3,500 dining destinations from all 50 states and more than 75 countries and territories. The 2024 Best of Award of Excellence awards were awarded to a total of 1,531 global establishments, and each of them was required to have at least 350 wine selections on their list. The total number of winners from this year’s Grand, Best of Award of Excellence and Award of Excellence was 3,700 wine programs, and they appear online at WineSpectator.com and will be published in the August 31 issue of Wine Spectator magazine available on newsstands mid-July.
